People don't realize that cast iron is actually steel with too much carbon. making it hard as hell but brittle.

I worked in a cast and ductile iron foundry, cast iron was relatively easy to break.

When I was a teenager, I worked at a plumbing warehouse. If we ever dropped a cast iron pipe, it would be smashed to pieces.
