Watching the lowering used to be common. in the old days, friends and relatives would throw a shovel of dirt on the casket.

When my 2 year old son was buried, they let us lower him into the ground but then had the tractor cover him with the dirt right in front of us!

Here in NC they make the family leave. I wanted to watch my mother lowered to her final resting place but they asked us to leave.

In Deutschland gibt es leider solch einen Gewölbe nicht da wird nur der Sarg allein in das Grab herab gelassen und man steht dabei . 😏
