@floriangadsby: Here’s the trimming, waxing, glazing and the finished, fired object. For those of you who’ve been following along lately, and recall the cross section posted a few days ago, this is made with the exact same, groggy clay body, thankfully with no cracks this time, as it was glazed all over. I water down my wax emulsion, so that it brushes on more smoothly, then the vessel is dipped in glaze, tidied up the same after, which for this piece was quite time-consuming due to the extremely textured surface and all the craters that were created. Finally, it’s glaze fired to cone 10 in a reduction atmosphere and what emerges is an entirely different vessel — it’s moody and dark, crackled and full of variations in tone and surface. The rim is my favourite part. Truthfully, I’m not entirely sure about the pot as a whole, but the bright red, metallic rim works for me, now I just need to get the entire pot looking like that. #wip #pottery ceramics #satisfying #asmr #craft
