Police in Kapiri-Mposhi District have arrested a Tanzanian and three Zambians for the offence of Conveying and Aiding prohibited immigrants. Police officers, working on a tip-off from concerned members of the public, officers at Nkumbi Check point intercepted a Scania tanker truck bearing registration numbers T711 DMV and T214 which was being driven by Ramadan Ayoub, aged 32, of Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania. The truck belongs to World Oil Limited Company based in Tanzania. Police officers searched the tanker truck and found four people, all males and believed to be Ethiopians on a bed inside the truck. They were all arrested and during interviews, the driver revealed to Police officers that there was someone waiting for the four illegal immigrants in Kapiri-Mposhi town. The truck driver led officers to the person who was waiting for the illegal immigrants. He was found before Mpula in Kapiri-Mposhi District where he was arrested and identified as Moses Mfula, aged 42, of Soweto compound in Kapiri-Mposhi District.  He cooperated with Police officers and led the team of officers to two others who were on their way from Lusaka to pick the four illegal immigrants. A Toyota Landcruiser bearing registration number ALG 9063 later appeared and parked near to the tanker truck where two men emerged and started engaging the truck driver.  They were immediately arrested and later identified themslves as Charles Mwanza, aged 43, and Taonga Mukwakwa, aged 32, of Lusaka's Chawama compound and Matero township respectively. They are all detained in Police custody in Kapiri-Mposhi while the four illegal immigrants are detained in Mkushi District. All this happened on June 30, 2024 between 18:00 hours and 23:30 hours in Kapiri-Mposhi and Mkushi Districts.
