do you remember this song?
Freedom or Bondage? When the serpent approached Eve in the Garden, his tactic wasn’t force—it was manipulation. He twisted God’s truth, making her question God’s goodness and convincing her that true freedom lay in doing what felt right in the moment: “Did God really say…?” (Genesis 3:1) The enemy framed disobedience as freedom, but the moment Eve bit the fruit, that “freedom” turned into shame, separation, and bondage. The very thing that was supposed to give her power stripped her of peace. Isn’t that how drinking or anything the world tries to offer as freedom works too? The enemy whispers that taking the drink, numbing the pain, or indulging the craving will set you free—that you’ll feel relief, control, and release. But instead, it pulls you deeper into the cycle of guilt, isolation, and dependence. True freedom isn’t found in doing what feels good for a moment—it’s found in walking in alignment with God’s truth. Jesus came to undo the damage from that first deception: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36) Freedom is not found in indulgence—it’s found in obedience. Sobriety isn’t about restriction; it’s about reclaiming the authority and peace that was lost in the Garden. The serpent’s voice may still whisper, but God’s truth will always break the chains. ➡️ What lies about “freedom” have you believed? Drop them in the comments below, and let’s step into true freedom together.
