@genevavanderzeil: Making upcycled arched dining chairs. After renovating our studio kitchen recently I knew it was missing something - dining chairs. After finding a set of old chairs on marketplace for $40, I wanted to try out an idea I’ve been seeing around. The biggest challenge with this project was removing the arch and lowering it to be a comfortable back height (30 - 40cm from the seat or 78-84 cm from the floor) but I worked with my Bosch NanoBlade to make it work. It turned out to be easy! The vibration-less cutting means a really clean cut, so I was able to keep the chairs looking so elegant and didn’t damage them at all through this project. I removed the padded backing, lowered the arch and then sanded all the chairs and refinished them with a light oak stain. I decided to switch out the seats for a rounded shape, and couldn't help but try out not one but FOUR of your upholstery suggestions - leather, plain timber, bouclé and green velvet. You guys have been helping me decide which I like more, but on putting them into the studio kitchen I started to wonder if they actually work mis matched. What do you think?
