Hello, hello! It’s Black Rose again! This is a short video about rhyming words with the ending tone in the language of Hmong in the dialect of Mong Leng. It’s going to help you understand and remember the rhymes of the words that have the ending tone that have a special sound to help you read and write in Mong Leng. Please remember that the Mong Leng language is a tonal language. A tone marker appears at the end of the word creating a special sound. In the Hmong writing all words do not write as compound words and the tones, b, g, j, MUST never be used in front of a word at any time that makes the writing unique. So read the terms and the story below to find out what each of the tones sounds made. Tones: b, d, g, j, m, s, v Notes: For the tone “s” is called “cim mus, s” as in White Hmong dialect because in Mong Leng, there’s no word to describe this tone “s”. The tone “d” and “v” sounds are similar, so mostly you will see the “v” used most of the time. The “d” mostly will be used for a word like"nyob ntawd”, it means, it’s there; “ntawd”, there, or nkawd, them, they (two persons only), but the “V) may imply these words also. Ending tone: m Writing Formula B: consonant+vowel+tone= word am, word Families: 1. lam,to blame (l+a+m= lam) 2. tam sis, but (t+a+m= tam) 3. nam, mom (n+a+m= nam) 4. kam, to blame (k+a+m= kam) 5. npam, cursed (np+a+= npam) Ib zaaj keeb kwm txug kev npau suav. Ib mo, kuv tau ua ib tug npau suav has kuv nam wb moog taug kev rua ib taaj chaw txawd txawd. Ua caag muaj ob txuj kev. Kuv nam txawm has tas thaum twg wb moog txug ntawm tug cam teb ces wb yuav nam lem moog rua saab xis. Tam sis, ua caag wb moog txug ntawd, ca le twg kev lawm. Ua caag kuv txawm ca le tsim dlheev huv dlaab dlub lug lawm. Kuv txawm moog pav qha rua kuv nam. Kuv nam txhaj tau has rua kuv has tas, “Tej sag koj ua npau suav vim ob nub ntawd, wb tau moog yuam kev thaum wb moog rua tom koj tuj phooj ywg lub tsev. Wb tau sib kam sib lam hab koj tseem noog txug lu lug “npam” has li caag huv lug Moob. Es koj ua npau suav xw.” Kuv tas teb has, “Oh, yog yog,yog lawm!” Ces kuv nam wb mas luag tsi taug le os!” Taag lawm. A story of a dream. One night I had a dream about me walking with my mother to a trail where I have no idea where that place is. But then, in the dream my mother and I had a conversation about how we are going to follow the road. My mother suggested that we should make a right turn, but when we reach the turning point and the road ends. Then I woke up from my dream. I told my mother the dream and she said, “Oh, because the other day we were blaming each other for the wrong turn when we were driving to your friend’s house and we were talking about curses because you asked me how to say curse in Hmong, but we ended at a road that ends. We made a turn and took a different road.” I said, “Oh, That’s right!” My mother and I were laughing so hard! The end.
