How do people not realize when an abused mom leaves when her kids are teens chances are she doesn’t have the supports or finances to take the kids? My mom left when I was 18 and my brother was 16, she tried to get us to leave with her but she made it clear we’d have to work full time and that we’d be risking not being able to go to college cause she’d need us to support her. We weren’t willing to give our futures up or change our lives then. We had been begging her to leave for a long time. Dealing with our dad until we could support ourselves alone was the preferred option for us both
