Use a toilet bung - simply place the bung into the U-bend of the toilet and inflate. This will protect your property against back flow of sewage and floodwater through the toilet. 2. Install air brick covers over traditional air bricks when flooding is expected. These create a water tight seal to prevent water entering your property. 3. Install a non-return valve. This should be installed on the inlet pipe or on the waste pipe in the sink. The single flap mechanism prevents water coming back up the drain pipe, whilst still allowing water to leave the property.
