You could use a multi step process. Use the bucket to do the primary filtration then the sock then to a sand filtration.

Maybe not such a bad thing for the water to still be a little green so the algae isn’t completely gone after the filtering since that’s what you want

Not sure if you’d have access to it but I believe they use barley straw in a bag in ponds for algae. Not sure how effective it is but maybe an option.
