I’m so late but like say the total is 15.25 and they give me a 20 so I put the 20 into the register and it says I have to give them 4.75 and then they say I have to .25 so do I just subtract the .25 from the 4.75 and then i would give them 4.50

usually they do this bc they want less change back.. so if my total was 18.23 and i hand you 20 then you total. that's 1.77 back. you add .25 to 1.77 that equals 2.02. that's a little better example

I think it'll be easier if the customer will give the correct change or communicate with the cashier what they're giving or if not just use a debit card. any action after the registers open will confuse the cashier and they might get in trouble

I have dyslexia and at times I process information slower. I decided to get out of my comfort zone and apply to a cashiering job to help with my anxiety and was scared to death because of this but this has helped ease my mind thank you!

It would be short If I did that cause on the till I already put $20 .. they should give me the exact change now instead of last min . Plus they do “quick change” scams and happens alot in airports. And they get so mad when I tell them I can’t 🤷♀️
