Yeah, I had to prove my deafness at work. They wanted me to go see their certified audiologist test my hearing. I have 2 Cochlear Implants. Sigh.

The DMV is never about convenience. During chemo I got a temporary handicap placked, So I brought my letter in so I could get it for the full year

In the DMV case, the untrustworthy part is the DMV clerk, not you. The doctor's note proves the DMV clerk is not handing handicap plates to friend

I get your point but all disabilities aren’t visible so they can’t judge your ability themselves or it opens the door to ambiguity sometimes.

I guarded my brother with trisomy 21. Every 5 years I had to proof he still needs a legal guardian. It didn't disappear magically 🙄

I have to prove every 4 years I’m not an amputee to renew my license. I have nerve damage in my leg and somewhere along the way someone entered it

In Texas ADA tags are prescribed by an MD, that's the only way to get them.

I guess the clerk isn't authorised to evaluate any disabilities, that should be done by a medical doctor of sorts.
