The way a teacher explained it to me. The classroom seats are already filled by the kids moving up. so they push them along. (No kid left behind)

He’s right. My 6th grade kid, half test at a 1st/2nd grade level. We don’t do tracking, so the low kids are in class with the high kids, left behind

I teach 6th grade and seeing the same. I think social promotion does so much harm. We try to hold them back and the schools pass them on.
