Being over restrictive with your diet could be stopping your fat loss progress. It often starts coming off the back of an indulgent weekend, you feel bloated the scales have spiked and now think you have to heavily restrict yourself going into the next week, to lose weight. If you are super restrictive during the week, by the time you get to the weekend again your cravings are up and the chances of you going crazy with your food, are more likely. So you over indulge during the weekend. Even though you were in a big deficit during the week - the big surplus at the Weekend can mean that it levels out to maintenance or even a surplus on average during the week. Which means that you don’t lose weight or could even be gaining weight. You see this on the scale come Monday and think the answer is to heavily restrict yourself again - and this is where that unfortunate binge and restrict cycle can happen. If you approached your fat loss more moderately - with a smaller surplus during the week, you might be less likely to go crazy on the weekend because you were able to be more flexible during the week. You can still alternate your calories to allow for more food during the weekends- but in a controlled manner you can average a deficit over the week, actually see fat loss progress and hopefully stop that binge and restrict cycle.
