@cbcnews: Bushra Khalidi says she is desperately waiting for her WhatsApp messages to reach her family in Gaza. “We're waiting for the two ticks, the blue ticks on Whatsapp to turn blue, because it means their phone is on and we can assume that probably they're alive," said Khalidi, who lives in the West Bank. Her family is among 2.2 million Palestinians who live in Gaza. Residents face heavy restrictions on their movements that make it difficult to leave the region. "Nobody can leave Gaza,” she said. “The borders are closed and it's a complete military warzone.” Khalidi works for Oxfam Canada in Ramallah, where the group helps communities access food and water, as well as education and employment. She says communication with her family and colleagues in the Gaza Strip is sporadic and brief. Israel, which controls the flow of supplies across its borders with Gaza, has cut electricity and stopped the entry of food, water and fuel amid its “complete siege” of the territory. Humanitarian groups say the further blockade on the already impoverished territory will push the region into a crisis. #Gaza #Palestine #Israel
