@marksmithphotos: Some birds really have to work for their food. Great blue herons definitely put in the hours it takes to catch the tastiest fish. In this case, a fish from the Sculpin family, a planefin midshipman. This fish has come into the shallow water to spawn. It has most likely already laid its eggs somewhere under a rock and if not, the great blue heron gets some well deserved caviare with side of sushi which it ever so casually swallows whole. Glad I’m not a fish!
