They are absolutely gorgeous, attention-seeking birds. They are reliable egg layers of cream to light brown eggs. They are also very assertive and very often near the top of the pecking order. ✨Silver Double Laced Barnevelder: They are sweet birds that keep to themselves. They are gentle and not aggressive. Not extremely assertive and can easily be bossed around by other breeds. Reliable egg layer of medium brown eggs. ✨Lavender Orpington: One of the sweetest breeds I’ve known! They are friendly, gentle, wonderful around kids, and love to be held! They are very social birds and love to be around others. They reliably lay a very light brown egg. ✨Black Copper Marans: This breed is so sweet and beautiful! Very friendly and loves to be around other chickens but doesn’t love to be held. They reliably lay a beautiful dark brown and/or very speckled egg. ✨Silkie: The copious amounts of fluff is swoon-worthy! They’re always broody and absolutely LOVE raising baby chicks. One of the cutest, family-friendly breeds. When they do lay eggs, they lay small cream to light brown eggs. ✨Barred Plymouth Rock: One of the oldest breeds in America and lays a brown egg. A very friendly breed, reliable egg layer, heat and cold hardy, and a great option as a dual purpose breed. ✨Wyandotte: This breed is very friendly, docile, and calm. They’re a good cold hardy breed that reliably lays a pinkish brown egg. ✨Easter Egger: A mixed breed chicken (a brown egg layer mixed with a blue egg layer) that lays green, blue, or pink eggs. Very reliable egg layers, a good family friendly breed, heat and cold hardy. ✨Buff Brahma: They are a gentle, calm, friendly breed that is a very reliable brown egg layer. They’re also wonderful in a cold climate! ✨Green Queen: A mixed breed that will lay green, aqua, pink, and occasionally light brown eggs.
