Charity Appeal - Hope For Zimbabwe Children (HFZC) visit physically challenged Ms Praise Kasunhi - Chitungwiza 29 August 2024 *Background* Ms Praise Kasunhi is a physically challenged twenty-year-old girl who lives in Chitungwiza, Unit N with her parents, Mr Daniel Kasunhi and Mrs Lenah Matondora. *Consent* Before completing the assessment, Mrs Kasunhi and Ms Praise gave consent for the information, images, and videos to be used by HFZC for the charity appeal. *Capacity* Ms Praise communicates clearly in Shona and English and has no hearing issues. She communicates confidently without assistance. She has the capacity to make decisions regarding her care needs. She understood all questions asked and explanations given and was happy to proceed with the assessment. *Family Background* Ms Praise is the firstborn and the only girl in a family of four children. *Accommodation* The family shares a two-roomed house, which they are renting in Chitungwiza Unit N. *Health Challenges* Ms Praise was an able-bodied person when she was born. Then she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of thirteen years. She was diagnosed with Wet Gangrene, a condition associated with severe death and decomposition of body tissues resulting in loss of flesh. This forced her to drop out of school. She said she first went to Chitungwiza hospital, where she was treated and was given the wrong medication because the doctors were not sure of what the problem was. She also said that after three days, she started developing black skin on both legs and hands, which later became deep wounds. Then, on the 4th of August 2017, she said she woke up with no flesh on her right leg and was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where the cancer was detected and treated. She had bilateral amputation of the lower limbs (both legs cut below knee level) and amputation of the right upper limb (hand cut above elbow level) on the 4th of August 2017. She said she does not have any underlying health conditions and is not experiencing any health challenges except for the issues with mobility. She said she bathes herself and can do her own laundry at home. She uses her knees to move in and out of the house. *Economic Background* Ms Praise's parents are both vendors and literally survive with twenty dollars per day. They had to adapt to new changes, taking care of Ms Praise, putting food on the table, including rentals. *Assistance Needed* Ms Praise said she wishes to have artificial legs, which are going for three thousand dollars. She said with artificial legs, she can navigate and do her things without anything limiting her. She also said she would like to be funded with school fees. She said she pays one hundred and seventy dollars per term. She said she is doing Form 5 Arts and sometimes misses school due to lack of school fees. She also said that she wants assistance with building her disability network. She said that PWDs are not treated fairly and equally, just because some of them cannot speak for themselves because they do not know their rights. Having completed the assessment and environment, Ms Praise would appreciate assistance with artificial legs, school fees funds, and books to support with learning. #HopeForZimbabweChildren#praisekasunhi#cancer#chitungwiza #disabilitytiktokcreator #motivationalvideo #tiktokzimbabwe#donate#fundraising#chitungwiza#healthinspiration#caloriecountingtips#eatinghabittips#bodypositivity
