@ravenreveals: What’s the difference between being an ally and being an accomplice? 🧐 ⭐️ Since the summer of 2020 and the plethora of performative allyship that has followed in its wake, the term ally has felt hollow. Emptied out of meaning. To often ‘allyship’ is used to signify allegiance to social justice causes for moral brownie points as opposed to signaling true care for community. The language of liberation is always evolving, and when I first encountered this distinction it was illuminating. ⭐️ The term accomplice is an invitation to move from theory to action. Do we need to completely discard the term ally? No. But do we need to supplement that terminology with a language that invokes a more radical call to action?
