I think dimebag said something about setting his tuners to as low as it’d go. Ride the lighting was so that they were in tune with the bell. Cool stuf

Some bands tuned down, played slower to get a tighter feel, then sped the recording up to pitch. Metallica did this with puppets.

Pantera tuned to 425 hz on all records expect CFH. On CFH they tuned to 440.

Tuners were first invented in 1936 and the digital tuner was made in 1983 so I think they messed with the playback knob that changed the pitch

we used to alter the speed of tape machines to make It easy for singers to reach certain notes. then the pitch was altered too
