@brothersmake: We often get asked how long plastic takes to melt, and it all depends on your heat source. In the oven, you could be waiting 20-30 minutes for plastic to soften enough to melt until it’s ready to be moulded. But on a panini press, the direct heat contact from the plates make it SO much quicker. This timelapse was filmed over 4 minutes, and that was with the top plate open so we could watch them melt. But with the top closed, the press will fully melt bottle tops in 60-90s easily. In our injection moulding machines it’s a little different because we cram 120g of plastic shed in there to make them as time-efficient as possible. Depending on the type and grade of plastic we’re using, this takes between 6-10 minutes to fully melt and be ready to inject into a preheated mould. #plasticrecycling #bottletops #stopsingleuseplastic #oddlysatisfying #satisfyingvideos
