@a_different_spectrum: Don’t get me wrong, every child or adult that struggles to do verbal speech should have alternative communication tools abalible to them. It’s is more about the underrated difficulty of the unmasking aspect when using an AAC device when you’re so used to force verbal speech 🙁. Unmasking takes a lot effort in general, but being comfortable using an AAC in a social situation is still difficult for me. I don’t doubt that It’s a crucial tool to adopt when everything else fails, and that there are so many cool apps and devices out there. New AI technology is also taking a huge step to reward when it comes to voices and prediction or completion of text. I definitely wish I would have had one earlier so I was more comfortable with it, and I do encourage everyone that struggle with verbal speech communication to give AAC a try 🙂. Supporting Alternative ways of communicating such as AAC helps people to connect on a more inclusive level, where more people have the opportunity to be heard 🙂👍. And before you ask, yes I am okay. I just think it’s so important to shed light on these issues that can arise when masking your autistic traits. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ #autism #autistic #nonspeaking #disability #autismspectrum #autisticadults #autisticadult #disabilities #fyp #foryourpage #foryou #aac #inclusion #inclusivity #nonverbal #neurodivergent #autisme #autismo #alternativkommunikation #aacdevice ##actuallyautistic #anxiety #unmasking #autismacceptance #semispeaking #nonverbalcommunication #nonspeakingautism #nonverbalautism #nonverbalautismawareness #disabled #disabledtiktok #autistictiktok
