I live in Germany. When my daughter was three years old and saw a dark-skinned man at the supermarket checkout for the first time, she stared at him. When he noticed and looked at her with a friendly smile, my daughter hid behind me and cried... I was so embarrassed. My neighbour had a similar situation with her child, but there were black children at her kindergarden and her daughter wasn’t afraid. It’s up to us parents to introduce our children to people from other regions at an early age, so that they understand it’s normal and don’t develop any aversion or prejudices from an early age.
