@soheefit: I used to think that if I didn’t like my body, continuing to pick it apart and focus on changing it would make me feel better and improve my body image. It didn’t. Because the reality is, body image isn’t about the way you actually look. There are people out there with the “perfect” body (by society’s standards) who are extremely dissatisfied with their bodies. And for me, the more I’m not saying you’re never allowed to pursue aesthetic goals. What I am saying is that fostering an appreciation for all the things your body does for you - not just in terms of physical strength but also internal processes, creative endeavors, and more - as well as accepting and respecting your body is linked to improved well-being, decreased eating disorder psychopathology, and better emotion regulation skills, and it protects against external pressures related to body ideals. Something to think about. ❤️ #BodyImage #BodyFunctionality #BodyAppreciation

My partner encouraged me to do this when BD was really bad. It took years but for the 1st time in my adult life, I like things about my body

out of curiosity what do you think of body neutrality? I need a small goal to step away from body hate but body positive feels like I'm lying to mysel
