@thegoodplacefarm: Pastured poultry - I love raising these birds! They are so sweet and docile and follow you everywhere esp if you’ve got a feed bucket. This is my second large batch of birds I’ve raised and this time I did it a little different. Instead of keeping them confined to the chicken tractors and moving them multiple times a day I let them out from 9-5 to live their best chicken life - to peck and scratch all around the farm and so far? Not a single chicken lost to predators. Now, it’s an experiment and who’s to say if I will continue to keep the foxes and raccoons at bay in order to give these guys a better life but it’s worth a shot b/c for me, happy raised animals are the only kind that anyone should be eating. Why shouldn’t the animals we depend on for our lives get the best treatment possible? When did it become the norm to treat the animals we eat worse than the animals we call pets? Makes zero sense and I’m one of the many small community farmers working to change that and return to a time when our animals were honored for their sacrifice, not treated worse for it. #happyraised #pasturedpoultry #smallfarmer #chickens #cornishcross #chickentractors
