A truck carrying fertilizer lost control this morning and hit into the George Kunda Toll Gate on the Great North Road in Mkushi District, injuring a toll gate operator. https://www.facebook.com/100064560977290/posts/1005317148296975/ Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the accident occurred when the truck, traveling west to east, lost control due to excessive speed and hit the toll gate booth. He said Dimas Yombwe, 36, who was inside the booth at the time, sustained a deep cut on his head, a suspected fractured left shoulder, painful legs, and general body pains. “He was rushed to Mkushi District Hospital, where he is currently admitted and receiving medical attention,” Mr Hamoonga said. Mr Hamoonga said the driver, identified as Henry Musariri, 49, of Lilanda Township in Lusaka, was driving a Sino truck with registration number BLC 5656 and trailer number CAA 3603ZM. “We are holding the truck driver as investigations continue. The truck’s cabin was extensively damaged, and the toll gate booth was also damaged,” Mr Hamoonga added. He said the truck was carrying an unspecified number of fertilizer bags belonging to Arthur Logistics in Lusaka. Mr Hamoonga urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, especially in restricted zones such as toll gates. (Mwebantu, Saturday, 30th November, 2024)
