@thatdanleong: This Japanese-style restaurant in Rosebery serves up a platter of mini-dons (rice bowls). Tasting platters are my favourite because you don’t have to commit a whole meal to a single dish, but get to enjoy a variety of flavours. The portion did however leave much to be desired at $59.99. The wagyu and karaage chicken mini dons stood out for me. The platter might be designed for sharing(?) but given the portion, you might want to order some oden as well. Speaking of oden, the soup was flavourful which made it perfect for the ingredients to simmer in and soak up all that yummy liquid. The salted egg yolk mochi fish cake really took me by surprise as I was (if I’m being honest) expecting something much more generic. However, it was soft, chewy, and the salted egg filling was just like having the yolk of a mooncake - so good I ordered another serving of it! And the matcha kakigori was light, delicate and definitely not laden with sugar which allowed the matcha to shine through - always a hallmark of a good matcha ice cream to me.
