Sound on to hear all the buzz🐝 The pollinators are flocking to my favorite new addition to the garden this year…these charming Japanese Anemones. I wanted to bring in some more late summer/early fall blooming perennials that’d offered my pollinator pals some nectar and nourishment and these Anemones are the perfect fit. They love a good partly shady spot and look to be quite content here in my woodland garden. Just as many of the flowers are beginning to wind down for the season, it’s so nice to see all the native asters dotting our woods, providing the perfect feast for our native bees. And in the garden, many of our other bee pals, especially the bumbles with their loud roar of a buzz and the pollen-panted honey bees, will have a pollen party over at Anemone-land. These beauties should bloom well into October. There is a caveat when it comes to inviting them into your garden. They have a reputation of spreading rapidly given the right conditions. Often times, my shady garden doesn’t really give any plants the “right” conditions to run fully amok, but it is important to take into consideration. I purposely planted mine in a spot where I am hoping it will fill up, but I’ll also be diligent to watch when a bit of reigning in is needed.
