IT MIGHT BE LONG! BUT READ WITH ME😊 Day 265/400 ¦I know some people have wondered… what really brought about the name PhoenixAndVeil? Honestly, it was never just a name I picked because it sounded beautiful. It was born from the fire of a woman who has known pain, power, loss, growth, and the beauty of becoming. Before PhoenixAndVeil, there was Isabellamichael. There is a story behind the name PhoenixAndVeil. But before I tell you the story of the name, I need to tell you about the woman it was born from. A woman who, like many women, grew up in a world that constantly told her what beauty was supposed to look like. Your skin should look like this. Your body should look like that. Your hair should be this way. Your face should be smaller. Your nose should be sharper. Your waist should be smaller. Your lips should be fuller. Your skin should be lighter. Your body should be hairless. Your age should not show. Your scars should be hidden. And somehow, after all these instructions, we are still expected to wake up every morning and believe we are enough. But who decided? Who decided that beauty had only one face? Who decided that a woman had to fit into a particular shape before she could be called beautiful? Who taught us to look into the mirror and search for everything that was wrong before noticing everything that was right? Somewhere along the way, society turned beauty into a competition. And many women have been quietly losing themselves trying to win a game they never agreed to play. I know what it feels like to be looked at and made to feel like something about you is wrong. I know what it feels like when people make comments about things you never asked for, things you did not choose, things you cannot simply wake up one morning and remove. And sometimes, the most painful thing isn't even what they say. It is what you eventually begin to say to yourself. You start questioning your reflection. You start comparing. You start hiding. You start shrinking. You start believing that maybe if you change this one thing, then you will finally be enough. But what if you already are? What if the woman staring back at you in the mirror does not need to be corrected? What if she needs to be accepted? What if your stretch marks are not imperfections, but evidence that your body has lived? What if your scars are not something to be ashamed of? What if your natural hair is beautiful? What if you love wigs? What if you love makeup? What if you don't? What if you have facial hair? What if you don't? What if you are curvy? What if you are petite? What if your body changes after motherhood? What if you never become a mother? What if you want to dress modestly? What if you love showing skin? What if you want to change your appearance? What if you are perfectly comfortable exactly as you are? What if all of those women are still beautiful? Because they are. You are not required to look like another woman to be a beautiful woman. You do not have to erase your individuality to deserve admiration. And you certainly do not have to hate yourself into becoming someone society considers acceptable. Change if you want to. Don't change if you don't want to. Wear the makeup. Remove the makeup. Keep the natural hair. Wear the wig. Keep the scars. Cover them. Shave. Don't shave. Dress for the world. Dress for yourself. Reinvent yourself a hundred times if your heart calls for it. Or remain exactly who you are. There is no contradiction in wanting to transform and still loving the woman you were before the transformation. That distinction matters. Because transformation should be an expression of choice, not punishment. And that is why one of my favourite phrases has always been: My body, my choice. Not because I believe we should never change. But because I believe a woman should be allowed to decide what happens to her own body, her own appearance, and her own identity without having to earn permission from society. There is something almost sacred about a woman who finally stops asking the world,
