I did this and never got the list. took them to court over it and it got thrown out even though its illegal not to in California. I was so mad.

The rental community didn’t require a security deposit but after moving charged more than 2 months rent, even though it was left in pristine condition

And!!! Landlords have to pay interest on the money they hold of yours. Often times interest rate is low but if it’s a months rent. Could be a lot!
