@savedbydesign.tn: When we picked this up from a client, we assumed it would be repaired after we made some repairs. But what we found underneath was too good to cover up! This piece is approximately 200 years old made with solid Walnut, pine and Burl veneer. This craftsmanship needed to be displayed in its original glory. We chose to keep a lot of the age marks while doing a semi restoration. • We started by doing a full strip of all the old paint and finish sanding with 120 and 220 grit. Stripper linked in my Amazon store. • We removed all of the bad veneer on the base and covered it with a strip of wood with a similar grain. This is why we keep our scrap wood! • There were some chipped areas in the burl veneer but we used a sander to "fade" that into the underlying wood for an aged but smooth finish • We applied one coat of @generalfinishes water based wood stain in a mix of Provincial and BlackCherry. This is a great product to build coverage and camouflage imperfections. • Sprayed two coats of General Finishes High Performance top coat in a flat sheen • Lined the drawers and added new hardware for the final touch. Those can be found in our Amazon store . . . . #savedbydesign #furniture #furnituredesign #furnitureflip #homeinspo #homedecor #restoration #zibraweeklypick #history #franklintn #paintedfurniture
