@ikayvic: I load up the charcoal brooders every 4 to 5 hours with charcoal to generate heat that will keep the chicks warm. I do not allow the charcoal to burn out completely before reloading the charocal brooders to prevent me from starting a new fire that will create a smoky pen. That way I can keep on loading until I have to harvest the ash from the brooders 😃 This method is good because the charcoal is pure, clean, safe and healthy to use. Please note that I start the charcoal fires outside the pen because it comes with a lot of smoke before it stabilizes.
