I always jack up the axle and turn the wheels with the engine off, then start the engine and do the same on class 8 trucks.

yes, on any power steering work you have to get the wheels off the ground. then turn the wheels back an forth, but take it all the way the stops.

The instructions comes with a new gearbox explaining how to blend it. If you don't get the tires off the ground it will mess the gearbox up.

Just verify what fluid it takes. ATF or power steering fluid. Most is ATF

Especially gear boxes on semi trucks it also sets the poppets in them

I use a vacuum pump to suck the air out and keep refilling while it is running

Don't tell me you only learned this NOW. This is applicable to ALL vehicles with power steering, how did you not know this? LR even has bleeder on box

I have always been told to have the steer tires off the ground. I replaced an international gear box and it wouldn’t turn till I jacked it up.
