this is something I hear way too often and it genuinely breaks my heart every time. every client deserves to feel confident and taken care of when sitting in a makeup chair. inclusivity in this industry goes beyond just the service itself. from shade ranges to education, there’s still a long way to go. i’ll be honest, when I first started, working on deeper skin tones did intimidate me. I’m completely self taught, so most of my early practice was just on myself and the people around me. but just like anything else in makeup (like the first couple of years when winged liner had me shakin in my boots) confidence came from practice, education, and being willing to learn. and that same growth is possible for every artist. being able to work on all skin tones isn’t a specialty - it’s a responsibility. it’s so important that we raise the standards together. my inbox is always open to help in any way that I can 🫶 shared with permission from my beautiful amazing model @Bria Merriman 💖
