When utilizing the Standard Row variation, this will make the exercise most difficult in the contracted/shortened position of the rep. However, by shifting your body outwards, this will shift the exercise most difficult in the stretched/lengthened position. Using the 2nd Variation will also be useful to get a greater stretch on your lats, while putting more tension on your lower lat fibres at the end.
