Tax has to be proportional. If the 1% earn 30% of the income they should pay 30% of total tax.

It’s the way it was decided to introduce a higher rate of tax because it was popular with the poor and wouldn’t affect voting too much.

Our PM paid 23% tax on earnings of 4 million through capital gains tax.It’s the structure of system and the closing of loopholes that needs to change.

These are always distorted. Business owners pay themselves in the low tax bracket, then get profits on top. So based on PAYE would show near bottom
