Kids are naturally curious, and I wanted to make sure Josiah felt safe, informed, and not scared by anything unfamiliar like my new scars. I’ve always made it a point to have open, honest and mature conversations with him about everything but especially when it came to my surgeries. I reminded him that even though my body looks a little different right now, I’m still me—strong, healthy, and always here for him. Having that conversation helped ease his worries and made room for him to ask questions. He didn’t have nearly as many questions as when I initially had my DMX (I have that video too if anyone wants to see it) 😅 It’s so important to be open and honest with kids, even when the topic feels a bit heavy.
