I've been paying cash over 10yrs. Go abroad if I need a lot of work done for cheap. In a 10yrs I've spent about $4k. Dental work is a lot less if u pay cash.

At the hospital I work for, if we have record that you have insurance then you don’t get the cash/self pay discounts. It’s trash.

Just one correction… the patient pays the contracted rate not the full price. People can opt out and pay the same or less.

Catch 22. Cash pay won’t be applied to deductible. If Doctor’s office knows you have insurance, sometimes they refuse cash pay.

FYI…. This is not true in all states. For example, I just learned that if you live in California and you are insured, you are required to use your insurance. Those who are uninsured get a discount….

I am a little confused though, because in that case, you would never meet your deductible, which means your benefits wouldn’t start applying once you meet that deductible. So you’ll be paying always
