The longer I live, the harder life gets. Especially the losing people I love. Life gets tougher, so we have to get tougher

Here, we have a Golden Retriever charging a pack of Doberman Pinschers. This is another example of why the energy of an individual dog is more important to focus on than the breed of a dog. Many humans would likely be confused watching this video seeing a Golden charging Dobermans as they would assume it would be the other way around. That's why generalizing behavior based on breeds is a poor way to understand dog behavior. The Golden in this video is showing dominance, charging the pack of Dobermans with his tail straight in the air and not insecure about what he is doing. If this was pure aggression, the Golden would have just targeted one dog and repeatedly attempted to bite. There was a moment when the Golden used his mouth, but this was more of a snap and form of communication to let the Doberman know I mean business. Luckily, it seems like this ended with no fight or serious injuries. The problem is, this Golden got to practice charging other dogs on the street with no consequence for that action and the Dobermans now will likely be on edge when dogs are present on the walk due to this incident. The owner of the Golden should be more responsible by not letting their dog out off leash and establishing leadership to control the Golden's arousal. For the Dobermans, if it was me, I'd try to put my dogs behind me, face to charging dog, stand my ground, and use an object to put between me and the charging dog. Something like a tennis racket, a walking stick, or something on the street like a garbage can if I didn't bring anything with me. I realize this is easier said than done in the moment. Have you experienced off leash dogs charging you?!
