Fawning isn’t a personality trait. It’s a nervous system pattern. 🧠🕸️ When you fawn, your body is doing something incredibly smart: it’s using social engagement—smiling, softening, accommodating, nodding—to create safety in a situation that doesn’t feel safe. Not consciously. Somatically. 🫠 In polyvagal theory, fawning can show up as a blend of: ⚡️ Sympathetic activation (please-don’t-get-upset-with-me) and 🪦 Dorsal shutdown (I’ll disappear if I have to) And because it often looks like kindness or agreeableness on the outside, it can fly under the radar—even to you. That’s where nervous system mapping comes in. 🗺️ We start by asking: 🔍 What are the first signs in your body that you’re fawning? 😬 When do you start scanning for others’ comfort instead of your own? 💢 Is there tension in your throat, jaw, gut, or breath? 🫥 Do you feel a shrinking, a softening, a rush to perform or appease? Mapping the when and how of your fawn response lets you notice it sooner—so you can build capacity to stay in connection without abandoning yourself. 🧍‍♀️↔️🧍‍♀️ This is the work we do in Month 1 of SHED: learning to track your fawn responses not to fix them, but to understand them. So you can move from automatic appeasement to embodied choice. 🌀 ⸻ SHED is a 6-month live group with the Kali Somatics team. 🧠💬 We explore how fawning shows up in your work, your relationships, the bedroom, your family dynamics—and how to start unwinding it using practical somatic tools and deep nervous system support. 🤲🏽 We start August 27th #somatichealing #somatic #somaticexperiencing #peoplepleasing #fawnresponse
