@danniinthewild: Have you seen one of these before? 👹😱 Thought to have arrived here less than 120 years ago from Australia, with its first recorded sighting around 1914. This once rare mushroom, that for many years was found only at a small place in Cornwall, has a unique way of dispersing spores - by producing a smelly substance called gleba that attracts flies - which is how they found their way to the New Forest in around 2000. And now, just 23 years later, the Devil’s fingers fungus is really starting to firm its feet here in Britain, with more and more spotted at new sites each year - sometimes in impressive numbers! 👹🥚 #clathrusarcheri #devilsfingersfungus #octopusstinkhorn
