@cbcnews: The families of some of those taken hostage by Hamas during its Oct. 7 attack on Israel came to Parliament Hill on Monday. They asked the federal government to step up its efforts in securing the release of their loved ones. It came 23 days after Hamas breached the Israeli border and killed 1,400 Israeli civilians. The group kidnapped 239 hostages, including 33 children, and took them back into Gaza. In a speech Monday, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly urged Hamas to release the hostages, saying they may include two Canadians who are still missing. As of Monday, four hostages have been released and one hostage has been rescued. Canada has also deployed a team of hostage negotiation experts to the region. #Israel #Canada #Hamas
