@chriscronmusics: How to sound like Queen! There really isn’t a whole lot of trickery that goes into it. Mostly, it’s just lots and lots of layers. Brian, Roger and Freddie would stand around a mic (often a U87 or U67 set to omni) and sing each part in unison . Then they would double it before moving on to the next part. In a song like Killer Queen, where there are 5 background parts, the track count can get pretty large. A lot of the “phasing” effect you hear is just from them singing each part very tightly. Roy Thomas Baker (Queens producer) used this technique on a lot of The Cars tracks as well.
