Soon after I started my ED recovery journey, I started gaining weight. At first I was sad because that meant leaving behind my sick body and leaving behind all the negative behaviors that kept me comfortable for so long. So seeing myself grow out of my favorite pair of jeans scared me. But I realized through countless group therapy sessions that clothes are made to fit you! Your not made to shrink yourself to fit into them! I saw something the other day where someone said, “I’ve never looked at someone and thought, I wonder if they went up a size of jeans this year”. Which is so true, I’ve never been so stuck on the thought of someone else’s body that I’ve thought of them again. So why do we do it to ourselves?? Your body deserves so much love, it’s done so much for you so keep going and keep loving it through every step of the way. Love it through recovery and that weight gain. Love it at every stage it’s at.
