I almost didn’t make this video. As I was looking through my race photos, I hated them all. The awkward angles. The sweaty face. The jiggling skin on my body. And then I stopped myself. Because isn’t it interesting how often women are taught to focus on how their bodies look, even when those same bodies are doing something incredible? A photo can capture a split second of an unflattering expression, but it can’t capture the determination, the effort, the training, or the feeling of crossing that finish line!! These photos aren’t proof that my body isn’t good enough. They’re proof that my body is capable. This body carried me through 3.1 miles. This body kept moving when it got SO uncomfortable. This body got stronger with every training run. This body earned a new personal record!! 💪🏼 Bodies that move, move. They sweat. They bounce. They jiggle. They turn red. They make weird faces. They don’t always look perfect. And that’s because they’re busy doing amazing things. So instead of picking apart these photos, I’m choosing to celebrate them. They represent growth. They represent hard work. They represent a version of me who decided to stop waiting until she looked a certain way to be proud of herself. Because the goal was never to look pretty while running. The goal was to run. And I did.
