if you want it smooth and printable, Resin is your only serious option. a resin print is no more fragile than a typical tree ornament.

new PLA printers can do 2,4 or even 8 colours. resin printing is smoother, I dont think would break if cured

cults3d does the file sharing, either free or for a cost. can also get things printed. would give you the option for multi coloured printing

PLA is the most common 3d printing, thats done in layers, so you may lose the roundness of the figures. people can paint these,
