If the bottom door plate is brass this is gonna sound weird but SOAK it in ketchup and leave it to sit overnight. Then scrub and polish. I’ve done this is every brass things and works every time like a dream

I really like Howard’s Feed n Wax. An antique restorer (Thomas Johnson) uses it too. It’s orange oil and beeswax

Tibet almond sticks!!! You can find them on Amazon, very hydrating and safe for antique wood. Great for reducing the appearance of scratches/dings!!

if you can remove the metal plates, you may it's easier to scrub and use metal cleaner/polisher. I think Barkeeps Friend is okay for brass, my fave

Howard’s is great! Try the soft beeswax wood wax. It will make the door glow! Also, don’t be affraid to try out their Restore-a-Finish for woodwork.

0000 grit steel wool and Murphy’s oil soap was the best for cleaning my 1923 woodwork. Also put oil on then buff in bees wax to keep the moisture in
