Just make batteries really easy to replace. If they won't last as long as the rest, they should be swapped almost as easily as the ones in the remote.

the bigger problem here, is knowing the batt will need replaced in 3-5yr, and apple making them unserviceable. droid had srv battery for years

They used to be swapable by the user with no issue. And the EU is going to force that to be restored. No more BS in the EU.
