@makingmilliestones: Did you know straw cups (especially with hard straws) are important for kids with Down Syndrome? Using a straw cup can help with low tone in the mouth/face and benefit speech because sucking from a straw helps develop those facial movements needed in speech development (like tongue retraction and rounding of the lips). Did you also know that I’ve literally tried about 20 different straw cups for Millie? They were either too hard to clean, the straw wasn’t right, they’d break, or most annoyingly they’d leak or spill everywhere. Finally, I learned Contigo made a straw cup (called the LEIGHTON) and it checks ALL the boxes!! She can tip it upside down, throw it, set it down wrong, and it doesn’t spill! Plus, I love that the straw doesn’t move, it’s easy to clean and it’s 100% life proof. Yay!
