A federal judge on Thursday removed a Trump-era prosecutor from overseeing investigations involving New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that he was never lawfully appointed to serve as acting U.S. attorney. U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield barred the enforcement of subpoenas sought by John Sarcone, who had been acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York. The court found that the Justice Department failed to comply with federal law after judges declined to renew Sarcone's appointment last year. Schofield's decision aligns with rulings from other federal courts that have rejected efforts by the Trump administration to keep preferred prosecutors in office without Senate confirmation, effectively sidestepping the standard appointment process. In a sharply worded opinion, the judge said the executive branch overstepped its authority by bypassing congressional limits and then using that power to pursue investigations against political opponents. As a result, she ruled the subpoenas invalid, quashed them, and barred Sarcone from any further involvement in the investigations. The court further held that Sarcone was not legally serving as acting U.S. attorney and that any actions he took-or might take-in that role are invalid or subject to being voided due to his lack of lawful authority. James, a Democrat, had challenged Sarcone's authority after he issued subpoenas related to her civil lawsuits against Republican President Donald Trump over alleged business fraud, as well as a separate case involving the National Rifle Association and several former executives. She has argued that the investigations into her office amount to retaliatory and unfounded efforts aimed at Trump's political adversaries.#viral #fyp

Authorities have not announced any arrests directly connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, but the Pima County Sheriff’s Department recently confirmed the arrest of a YouTube content creator outside her Tucson-area residence. According to officials, 54-year-old Alexander Zabel Jr. was taken into custody on June 11 after deputies responded to multiple complaints about his conduct near the property. Investigators said Zabel was livestreaming outside the home when deputies approached him. During the encounter, authorities allege a sheriff’s sergeant was knocked to the ground while attempting to make the arrest. Zabel was ultimately detained and transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. He is facing charges that include resisting arrest, a felony, and public nuisance, a misdemeanor. Zabel, who operates the CriminalNetwork YouTube channel, had also been arrested earlier that week alongside two other YouTubers on allegations related to obstructing a roadway and creating a public nuisance. As public attention surrounding the case has grown, the sheriff’s department announced plans for increased enforcement in the neighborhood after residents reported ongoing disturbances. Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her home on February 1. Her case remains unsolved. Meanwhile, a volunteer search group in Nogales, Mexico, recently conducted a search near the Mariposa Port of Entry after receiving an anonymous tip claiming Guthrie’s remains might be buried in the area. Sheriff’s officials acknowledged awareness of the report but said they have not been contacted by Mexican authorities. Investigators emphasized that the case remains active and that all credible leads will continue to be examined.#fyp #viral
